Has a Transvaginal Mesh Implant Injured You?

Have you experienced complications with a transvaginal mesh implant? You should know that countless women across the country have voiced concerns over issues associated with the devices including erosion, bleeding, infection, recurrent prolapse and organ perforation.

Because of this, thousands of women have filed lawsuits against manufacturers including Boston Scientific Corp, C.R. Bard and Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon Inc. While there are many individual lawsuits pending across the country, more than 70,000 have been consolidated before District Court Judge Joseph Goodwin in Charleston, West Virginia.

Johnson & Johnson Ordered to Pay $5.7 Million in Transvaginal Mesh Case

In a recent transvaginal mesh case, a California woman was awarded $5.7 million for her injuries.

According to Bloomberg, jurors in Bakersfield deliberated for three days in March before deciding that Johnson & Johnson negligently designed the victim’s mesh device and failed to warn her doctors about the risks associated with an implant.

The jury awarded the woman $700,000 in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. It should be noted that Johnson & Johnson has refused to participate in settlement talks for the mass torts it is facing over the devices, unlike other manufacturers.
