What Causes Wrong-Way Car Accidents?

Unfortunately, wrong-way car accidents are often devastating, resulting in serious personal injuries and death.

In fact, passengers and drivers involved in wrong-way accidents are 27 percent more likely to die in them than standard accidents. These accidents can occur for a number of reasons, including drunk driving, debris in roadways, defective auto parts, confused drivers and medical emergencies.

Sadly, according to Florida Today, a young mother and her toddler, as well as the driver of the vehicle they occupied, were killed on December 14 in Orange County when they were hit head-on by another vehicle going the wrong-way.

The victims were identified as Brevard County residents — 20-year-old Paige Altman of Titusville, her 2-year-old daughter, Kyleigh Altman, and Cameron Greene of Cocoa.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that a 32-year-old Orlando man driving a GMC sport utility vehicle the wrong-way down SR 50 struck their vehicle. The Orlando man was also killed.

The victims were reportedly Christmas shopping prior to the accident. The crash remains under investigation.

Can I Speak to an Attorney About a Car Accident?

If your loved one dies in a wrong-way accident, you need to make sure that the crash is thoroughly investigated by an attorney in addition to the legal authorities. Sadly, there are many unsafe drivers on our roads. Often, there is little a driver can do to protect him or herself from becoming a victim when other drivers are neglectful.

If you have been seriously injured in a car accident, our attorneys are here to assist you. Have a happy holiday and stay safe.
