Bicycle accidents often result in horrific injuries, like broken bones, amputations, spinal cord injuries and brain injuries. Sadly, they can also result in death
Many bicycle accidents are the result of driver error. Often, a driver fails to see a cyclist on the road because of actions like distracted driving, speeding and/or drunk driving. Whenever this occurs, a victim or family member should hold the driver liable.
Keep in mind, if you or a loved one is injured in a bicycle accident, the driver’s insurance company will attempt to do what it can to minimize damages. This may include offering you a small amount of compensation up front so that you do not seek out a larger claim.
This is why you should speak to our attorneys if you are ever involved in a bicycle accident. We can seek compensation for hospital bills, therapy, property damage, lost wages and pain and suffering.
If your family member is killed, we can also seek damages via a wrongful death lawsuit. Sadly, on Thanksgiving Day a man was killed in an Orlando bicycle accident on Sand Lake Road near John Young Parkway.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) told the Orlando Sentinel that John Sill, 46, died after a four-door Ford slammed into him. Investigators are still trying to determine what happened, because Sill’s bicycle frame and tires were missing after the wreck.
The FHP said that another vehicle might have run over Sill before the Ford struck him.
