Why Should Car Owners Take Action on Defective Airbags?

About 7.8 million vehicles are under a recall for dangerous defective airbags. This defect can result in serious injury or death for front seat passengers, because the airbags can eject metal shards at a person during deployment.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a consumer advisory in late October, urging car owners to take action on getting these airbags replaced.

It should be noted that the NHTSA is updating the list of affected vehicles. If you do not see your vehicle on this list, it may still be under the airbag recall. To check and see if you are under the recall, visit the safercar.gov website to search by your vehicle’s VIN.
