Was a Disney World Speedway Wreck Preventable?

Updating a blog post we brought you earlier this year, WFTV-TV reported recently that the death of a man working at the Exotic Driving Experience at the Walt Disney World Speedway might have been preventable. Photo of funeral

In April, a 36-year-old senior manager for the Exotic Driving Experience, which is owned by Petty Holdings LLC, was killed in a Lamborghini accident when a 24-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle as he was attempting to move it through the course. The man died at the scene of the accident.

WFTV reported that the vehicle was going the wrong way on the track when it crashed into a guardrail, so the station began to investigate the incident. When the station requested safety reports from Petty Holdings, it was denied access, and reported that it is unclear if the attraction is regulated by a government agency.

A former worker at the track said that cars are meant to go counterclockwise, and that the guardrails around the track have gaps where emergency vehicles can enter it. He said that the guardrail configuration is set up so that if you go the wrong way on the track, it could lead to severe damages during an accident, as it would open a vehicle up to parts of the railing sticking out.

Working With an Attorney Following a Fatal Workplace Accident

Hopefully, an investigation will determine why this crash occurred. If your loved one is killed in a workplace accident, an attorney can also conduct an investigation into the incident.

If it is discovered that an accident could have been prevented and that an employer was negligent, through a wrongful death lawsuit, you may be able to hold the company or a third party involved in the incident liable. While any money you receive through a lawsuit will not bring your loved one back, it can help your family move forward by paying for items like burial fees and the cost of medical care provided to your loved one just prior to his or her death.
