On May 31, a motorist crashed into a home, damaging the building and requiring the driver to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.
According to a report by WOFL Fox 35, the motorist crashed into a home in Viera, in Brevard County. The accident occurred around 5a.m., and the impact was forceful enough to trap the driver in the vehicle, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue officials quoted in the news report.
Due to the severity of the wreck, rescue workers were forced to cut the motorist out of the vehicle, which remained lodged in the side of the house at the time of reporting, and the motorist was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center. While no one in the home was injured, the crash did damage the structure of the home, and the Brevard County Building Department will have to assess the damage to the structure before the wrecked vehicle can be removed. Florida Highway Patrol is still looking into what caused the driver to crash into the house.
